🧾 Ingredients

 

For the cauliflower

 

1 large cauliflower, cut into florets

Salt (to taste)

Water (for boiling)

For the creamy base

 

2 tbsp butter

2 tbsp olive oil

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

200 ml (¾ cup) cream or milk

100 g (1 cup) grated cheese (Parmesan, mozzarella, or cheddar)

Salt & black pepper

½ tsp nutmeg (optional)

For the crispy topping

 

1 cup breadcrumbs (or crushed toast)

2 tbsp melted butter or olive oil

1 tsp dried thyme or parsley

½ tsp garlic powder

2–3 tbsp grated Parmesan

👩‍🍳 Instructions

 

Cook the cauliflower

Boil cauliflower in salted water for 5–6 minutes until just tender.

Drain well and place in a greased baking dish.

Make the creamy sauce

In a pan, heat butter + olive oil.

Sauté onion until soft, add garlic for 30 seconds.

Add cream/milk, cheese, salt, pepper, and nutmeg.

Stir until smooth and slightly thick.

Assemble

Pour sauce evenly over the cauliflower.

Prepare topping

Mix breadcrumbs, melted butter, herbs, garlic powder, and Parmesan.

Sprinkle generously over the casserole.

Bake

Bake at 190°C (375°F) for 35–40 minutes, until golden and crispy on top.
