Homemade Sweetened Condensed Milk

Written by Admin

Ingredients:

2 cups whole milk

2/3 cup granulated sugar

3 tablespoons unsalted butter

1/4 teaspoon baking soda (optional, to prevent curdling)

Instructions:

Combine Ingredients:

In a medium saucepan, combine the milk and sugar.

Add the butter to the mixture.

Cook the Mixture:

Place the saucepan over medium heat and stir until the sugar dissolves completely.

Reduce the heat to low and simmer gently. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.

Thicken the Milk:

Cook the mixture for about 30–40 minutes, or until it reduces by half and thickens to a creamy consistency. Be patient and avoid boiling, as it can curdle the milk.

Add Baking Soda (Optional):

Stir in the baking soda during the last few minutes of cooking to keep the mixture smooth.

Cool and Store:

Remove the pan from heat and let the sweetened condensed milk cool completely.

Pour into clean, sterilized jars and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Enjoy
